Keep reading!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"heading-2\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Create an hourly cleaning special<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An hourly cleaning special is a short service you can offer at a higher rate whenever you see upcoming gaps on the cleaning calendar. You may be wondering,<em> how is this a special offer if I\u2019m charging a higher rate?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Good question. It\u2019s considered a special offer because it lies outside of your ordinary scope of service. What\u2019s more, clients benefit from a quick turnaround when booking this special.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019ll want to keep your cleaning special under three hours per client, offering only basic cleaning. So, for example, if you\u2019re running a special when your usual rate is $45 an hour, your special service rate could be $50 an hour.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The hourly cleaning special is a great opportunity to warm up new clients. If they\u2019re impressed with your service, they could book you for a recurring cleaning. With that in mind, you don\u2019t usually want to offer this service to your regular clients. Think of it more as a lead generator at the top of your sales funnel.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zenmaid.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/2-3-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6239\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.zenmaid.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/2-3-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.zenmaid.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/2-3-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.zenmaid.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/2-3-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.zenmaid.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/2-3-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.zenmaid.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/2-3.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"heading-3\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Rules of the service<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To optimize your hourly cleaning special, there are a few rules to follow:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Keep it at a minimum of three hours<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Charge above your existing rate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tap into new leads, not your existing clients<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Require only credit\/debit card payments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep it non-refundable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Follow a specific cleaning list during the service<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"heading-4\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Minimum of three hours<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since this service will only be offered when you see gaps in the cleaning schedule, make sure to keep the special at a minimum of three hours. Reason being so you don\u2019t create more gaps of one hour here, and one hour there. Instead, consider offering your cleaning special in three, four, and six-hour blocks.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"heading-5\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Charge above existing rate<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We already covered this, but as a reminder: only offer your cleaning special at a rate higher than your existing one. The \u2018special\u2019 part of the service comes from clients getting an exclusive, out-of-scope offer with a quick turnaround.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"heading-6\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>New leads<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since this is not a substitute service, only offer it to your potential clients. We\u2019ll talk more about marketing to leads in just a minute!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"heading-7\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Credit cards only<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even if you have options for your regular clients, don\u2019t offer payment plans or check payments for this service. Keep it simple with credit card-only payment options. Since this is an extra service with openings for only a few clients at a time, you don\u2019t have to worry about losing business over this.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"heading-8\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Non-refundable<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is not meant to be a substitute for a deep cleaning or any recurring service, so keep it non-refundable. This way, you\u2019re protected if the job turns out to be a lock-out or cancellation. The key is to communicate this clearly upfront so no one gets surprised. To get started, find a short list of five to ten leads who may be interested in booking this service. Here are some ideas of who could be on this list:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Leads you\u2019ve quoted who never got back to you&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Past clients who canceled services on good terms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>People who have inquired through social media, email, or phone<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you offer commercial services: businesses you have a contact at<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"heading-10\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>SMS or email campaigns<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Send a targeted SMS or email campaign to your short list of leads. Since this group of people won\u2019t know you very well, include messaging that feels welcoming and personal. If you\u2019re using a platform that allows sequences (or flows), set up a reminder email to the users whose behavior indicates opening the email but not taking action.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Better yet, make it as easy as possible to book your services with an automated booking option. With that in mind, create a sense of urgency to book it. With a sense of urgency, convey exclusivity or urgency in your messaging. Here are some messaging examples to use in your marketing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cDon\u2019t spend your weekend cleaning.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cGrab the last spot.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cNeed a last-minute cleaning? So let\u2019s talk about what those expectations should be.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"heading-13\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>When the time starts<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since this is an hourly cleaning special, you need to make sure the time allotted for cleaning is protected. The clocked time always starts when your cleaners arrive at the cleaning site. No matter if the client is late to the site, or if there\u2019s a delay getting started (as long as it\u2019s not the cleaner\u2019s fault), the timer needs to start.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><p>How to communicate this: Let the client know that it\u2019s to protect the time of your cleaners, but more importantly, to protect your client\u2019s investment in the cleaning.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/get.zenmaid.com\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zenmaid.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/free-trial-banner-1.png\" alt=\"\"><\/a><\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"heading-14\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>List of priorities<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a reminder, an hourly cleaning special is not your regular top to bottom cleaning service. Therefore, your cleaners will have a prioritized list of duties to work on. They\u2019ll start at the top of the list and work their way down. Once the time runs out, the cleaners will be done even if there\u2019s more on the list to do.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The client can choose this list before the day of the cleaning. Make sure you have a copy of the list for the client and for your cleaners. That way, there\u2019s no miscommunication or unmet expectations. You can also provide a standard list of duties if you don\u2019t want clients to choose ahead of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We recommend avoiding duties like completing laundry or dishes as the length of time for these services is variable.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An example of \u201cthe list\u201d:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Full clean of the bathrooms (toilet, bath, shower, sink, dust, mop)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wipe down and mop kitchen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dust and vacuum living room<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wash inside of windows<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dust and vacuum bedrooms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If there\u2019s time: dust and vacuum basement or bonus room<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"heading-15\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Length of cleaning<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To summarize what we\u2019ve already shared on this topic: offer your hourly cleaning special at three, four, and six-hour blocks. Make sure this is extremely clear to the client. In addition, make sure the client is aware that this option is not for houses needing a deep clean, but rather, a general surface-level clean.
