How much growth do I need to plan for?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The questions never end!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To cut through the chaos, you need a roadmap. After all, maps make things easier. When you travel, you use a map, GPS device, or some type of app on your phone. You need directions to get from point A to point B \u2014 and you need it to get you there as fast and efficiently as possible.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lifecycle marketing is that map.<\/strong> It\u2019s a framework that helps you design a marketing plan to attract customers, convert sales, and retain customers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With lifecycle marketing, you have the opportunity to market through the customer\u2019s journey \u2014 <em>not<\/em> just at the beginning. If you want the maximum amount of leads, then you need to market to your customers throughout their whole \u201clifecycle.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the next few minutes, look through this checklist and honestly answer the question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>How many of these do you do consistently?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I have a lead capture strategy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I consistently follow-up on quotes given<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I nurture quotes for at least 14 days<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I communicate with prospects at least monthly<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I have a solid new customer onboarding process<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I constantly check in on clients to see how things are going<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I regularly ask clients for referrals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I regularly ask for reviews<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I offer my clients chances to purchase more (upsells)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I have a strategy to get clients back when customers quit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you can only check off 2-4 of these, then guess what? You\u2019re not alone. A lot of cleaning business owners are just like you. However, a lifecycle marketing strategy will allow you to check off each one of these points and secure a competitive edge over other maid services in your area. You\u2019re in this for the long haul. You can do it!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this first stage, you need to understand your target market before you can start on anything else. <em>Who<\/em> needs your services?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It could be busy parents with young children, empty-nesters, or senior citizens. Sometimes businesses target a wide range of demographics, but it\u2019s best to focus your messaging on one ideal client profile when you&#8217;re just getting started. You can expand your target later! Your audience determines your marketing strategy: what pictures you use, how you speak with someone on the phone, how you approach a sales call, and how you follow-up with someone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zenmaid.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/2-5-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6295\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.zenmaid.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/2-5-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.zenmaid.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/2-5-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.zenmaid.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/2-5-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.zenmaid.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/2-5.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you\u2019ve determined this, you\u2019re ready for your budget. <strong>Ideally, you should spend 5-10% of your monthly revenue on paid marketing.<\/strong> But ultimately, do what makes the most sense for your unique maid service. If something doesn\u2019t work, you can tweak it and try again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you start seeing leads on your website, follow up with whoever fills out a form as soon as possible. For a minimum of two weeks, do everything you can to turn the person from a prospective customer to a paying customer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If possible, nurture your long-term prospects. <strong>Just because you didn\u2019t convert someone right away doesn\u2019t mean that you can\u2019t convert them later.<\/strong> Use everything at your disposal: monthly specials, newsletters, seasonal promotions, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A typical maid service marketing program looks like this: Phone call to quote &gt; Quote email &gt; Wait one day &gt; 1st follow-up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With lifecycle marketing, however, you go beyond the typical marketing pattern. It looks more like this:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 1:<\/strong> Call your leads, provide a quote, and send them an email<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 2: <\/strong>Wait<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 3:<\/strong> Send the 1st follow-up email<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 4 \u2013 5: <\/strong>Wait<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 6: <\/strong>Send an email about your home cleaning company, who you are, and what you represent<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 7 \u2013 8:<\/strong> Wait<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 9:<\/strong> Send an email with testimonials from satisfied cleaning clients<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 10 \u2013 12:<\/strong> Wait<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 13:<\/strong> Send the lead an offer, specials, or coupons<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 14:<\/strong> Wait<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 15:<\/strong> Call the cleaning client to follow-up and schedule the special offer<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 16 \u2013 20:<\/strong> Wait<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 21:<\/strong> Send another special offer that differs in appearance, style, or product<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Days 22 \u2013 27:<\/strong> Wait<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Day 28:<\/strong> Contact via email or phone to tell the potential client that the deal will expire soon<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/WDRJlIX_BlXtAwKEzxr119el5zOizacn9hw8w8JQ5A5Xy-iKKlf4EGj4D4BetFNQslJH6M-06JEZNEseHbpIol0YVXwv7yrXNL1uB5IvdePYTAVCTQvgqIJMvB-A6bYghTQw_YvZ\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This 28-day quote nurture sequence works wonders. After you implement this, you\u2019re ready for the next stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"heading-3\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>#2 &#8211; The sell stage<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The sell stage is where you convert your leads from the first step (the attract stage) into a customer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Very few business owners pay attention to their sales script. If you\u2019re taking notes, jot this down (or copy and paste it into a notes document): <strong>You need a sales script that is written, tested, tweaked, and finalized.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A good sales script is one that you\u2019ve used before and works for you. It should:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Educate your potential customers on your value proposition<\/strong>: Show them <em>why<\/em> your company is better than the other cleaning services near you (but be sure not to drag anyone through the mud.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Address objections: <\/strong>If people typically think that your prices are high, write down the reason why you charge that much.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Close the sale using clear closing questions: <\/strong>Memorize your notes and practice your sales script. Come up with multiple scenarios so that you\u2019re ready for anything. Ask them: <em>Which type of cleaning do you want, and when should we get started?<\/em> <em>Does Tuesday work for you, or should we come Wednesday?<\/em> This is a sales technique that transforms potential customers into current customers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Offer upsells:<\/strong> Persuade your customer to buy another service. By the end, they should know a little bit about you on a personal level, and vice versa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of your biggest assets is your customers because, without them, your business would go down the drain. So, be sure to make them feel valued:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Check-in on them right before their first cleaning, and right after<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Send them thank you emails<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete a service follow up<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do a 30-day, 60-day, and 90-day check-in<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you \u2018hold your customer\u2019s hand\u2019 for 90 days, you\u2019ll have them for life! Now you\u2019re ready for the last stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/zenmaidmastermind\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zenmaid.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/FB-group-banner.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"heading-4\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>#3 &#8211; The WOW stage<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the chance that you\u2019ve been waiting for. Surveys show your customers that you really care about them, and you want to make every cleaning experience the best it can be. This goes a long way!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When your customers love your work, they become part of your sales force;<\/strong> they give you referrals and write reviews on Yelp, Facebook, or Google. If you\u2019re tempted to skip this stage \u2014 don\u2019t! In today\u2019s world, online reviews build your business. There\u2019s really no way around it. So, use reviews to your advantage. You won\u2019t believe how much business you\u2019ll get from these specials.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Make a plan to win back lost customers.<\/strong> If you don\u2019t, they\u2019ll simply walk out the door, and you\u2019ll never hear from them again. When you notice that a customer hasn\u2019t rescheduled a cleaning in a while &#8211;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Send them a \u201csorry to see you go\u201d or \u201cwe miss you\u201d email<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A coupon<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Another coupon if you haven\u2019t heard back from them after the first coupon<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Call them and ask if they want to schedule a deep clean<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the call doesn\u2019t work, send them a third coupon<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Over these 90 days, check-in with your cleaning clients to see how you can help them with your cleaning services.
