You should see the front page of your Business Manager. You\u2019re ready to create your first ad campaign!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"heading-5\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Create your first ad campaign for your cleaning business (1.5 hours)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"heading-6\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Choose your campaign objective<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now it\u2019s time to choose the objective of your ad campaign. Name your campaign&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The campaign name will only be visible to you, so name it anything you\u2019d like. You can keep the auto-name \u201cReach,\u201d or name it descriptively like the \u201cClean Kitchen campaign\u201d or \u201c50% off campaign.\u201d (If you\u2019re not sure what your ad will look like yet, don\u2019t worry! Choose your audience<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now it\u2019s time to choose who to show the ad to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019ll want to target your ad to people who might be interested in your services. Think about your current clients: how old are they? How much money do they make? Where do they live?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Custom Audiences<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leave this section blank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/uceCQ2UjQT_M9aPG9KeTcsx3Ci_axkgKEm59CCWpeGN43Exr45D_USUjWhMDy_kApK46qbO6uppBluAOsB9CqmYsfaBJ8HI4FO5easlyygWrU3YG8-ubwT7CgMaLNakUEb9M_EFy\" alt=\"maid service facebook advertisement\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Location<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Narrow your audience to people in your service area.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the \u2018Locations\u2019 section, type in your city. You can choose how far outside the city you want to advertise; The dropdown that says \u201c+25 mi\u201d can be changed to a radius of your choice. Well, you could if you wanted to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the \u2018Detailed Targeting\u2019 section, click the \u2018browse\u2019 button to see all the targeting options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/trVa9Uvlydj34xDFKxYZkFKhtvJ6kXhZBsjiMtExAPzeRSnSnrxYrhTRQOxaT9Fkh5DCRFrkNtAAfnKKDA9OkJMLQz8FW-Tg7IFHI-T8C-Lams40yLXn_HRT6rdDUx0cs1xWkTDz\" alt=\"maid service facebook advertisement\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For our example ad campaign, we use this section to add:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Demographics -&gt; Relationship -&gt; Relationship Status -&gt; Married<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you\u2019ve added your first qualifier, click the \u201cNarrow Audience\u201d text.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/b_3zS9g0Sk5znDGjRHBmIPjuDpLr9akSut2ZBQqOiYoGIIxTC7oHuHlGDfYPRDO0QhQURJFzXX_wa9WDP-zx5zeFWkUdWvKM5tDEncDpVE42pkbajMQ5rnEX_j36AEE5E4KO6Syl\" alt=\"maid service facebook advertisement\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNarrow Audience\u201d allows you to combine demographic targeting. For example, if we want to target <em>married parents<\/em>, we can now add a \u2018Parents\u2019 stipulation in addition to \u2018Married.\u2019&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you don\u2019t select \u2018Narrow Audience,\u201d the ad would be shown to both married people (with or without kids) AND parents (whether they are married or single).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/zYOu2CZdzaV6DkNKAglLBDXx1GyfapG-_yi0GC4sg04bdyGZjdQOfuFxYezAD8v3v-3D3BNytgbSrtt-xwvsF1osZ3glgJTJ4PrR0x75fBuiDSVFJN4fYPhUBOfZK12Jrh4tGu3K\" alt=\"maid service facebook advertisement\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the example above, we decided to only target married parents who have children under 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We found these options by clicking browse, then navigating to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Demographics -&gt; Parents -&gt; All Parents<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>(Note: If the menu looks odd, did you remember to click on the \u2018browse\u2019 button?).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now add any other demographic qualifiers that you want. Just be sure to click \u2018narrow audience\u2019 every time you add a new stipulation. Target by connection type<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Connection Type section lets you advertise to people based on whether they have a previous connection with your business. So when you create an ad for Facebook, you are also creating an ad for Instagram. If you do not want to advertise on Instagram, you can return to the \u201cPlacements\u201d section and choose to edit the placement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you choose to advertise on Instagram (which we recommend) and you have an Instagram account, you can use the Instagram account as your ad\u2019s \u201cidentity.\u201d That means that if someone clicks on your business name within the ad, they would be directed to your Instagram page (rather than your Facebook page).<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"heading-17\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">12. Choose your ad format<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For your first ad, choose the \u201cSingle Image\u201d format. This is useful because most viewers will skim over your ad.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Showing a close-up of yourself or your employees builds trust\u2013 people want to put a face to a business.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"heading-20\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">14. Check the ad preview<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Look through previews of the ad for each ad placement. Make sure the ad looks good and the text makes sense for all ad variations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019ll notice that some placements are quite different than others. For example, the \u201cFeature phone\u201d placement doesn\u2019t include the \u2018news feed link description\u2019 text. Evaluating and Tweaking Your Ad<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After you\u2019ve let the ad run for a week, you\u2019ll want to look at your results and make changes as needed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To see how well your ad performed, you\u2019ll navigate to your \u2018Ad Manager\u2019 page. Facebook shows you how many views and clicks your ad is getting, as well as engagement (likes, comments, and shares).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you find you\u2019re getting clicks at a reasonable rate, continue running your campaign. We like to continue campaigns that cost us less than $1 per click.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you\u2019re not getting good click-through rates, you\u2019ll want to update your campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can try to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Change your targeting.<\/strong> If your targeting is too broad, you may be reaching people who are not going to pay for a cleaning service no matter how good your ad is.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Change the ad image. <\/strong>Remember, users are scrolling through Facebook and their eyes glaze over most ads. Your image must catch their attention. Try a few new images to see what works best.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Change the text.<\/strong> Experiment with other headlines and calls-to-action.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Remember that online advertising and marketing, especially on social media, is a game of testing until you find something that works.&nbsp;This requires a lot of upfront work.
